Lemons into Lemonade & Dream Jobs

You have an entry-level job and that’s great! You found something in your field that pays and also adds another time period of experience to your resume. However, you are still looking, still persevering towards getting your dream job. Well, here are a couple of tips for you to take into consideration to help you get one step closer to achieving your goal.

First, identify three things that you could do better at. No one is perfect and there is always something you can do to be more efficient or productive. So take a day and take mental notes about the things you do. Do you spend a little too much time at the water cooler? Put that extra five minutes back behind your desk to accomplish smaller tasks or maybe offer your assistance to another co-worker and show your boss you are a team player.

To add to that, you should record facts about your current position. When you go to highlight things on your resume, it is best to use numbers and data. For example, if you are a sales person you should note what percent of your goal you maintain every month. Or if you are an office administrator you should note how many people you assist on a daily basis.

Getting a dream job in America’s tough economy will take more than just a spoon full of sugar. Don’t give up. Take your lemons and make lemonade because you have to remember that this is only the beginning.
