So your job search may have hit a rut recently and you don’t know what to do. Here are some tips to rev up your job search and get you excited about the hunt again, no matter how stressful it may actually be.

1. Redo your resume. If you’ve been sending out the same resume over and over again, you’re probably sick and tired of looking at it. Try switching up the design and going for a fresh look! If you have any new experience or skills to add, now’s the time to do that, too! The design of your resume won’t actually get you the job, but a well-polished resume could get you moved up in the pile.

2. Get out on informational interviews. Even if companies aren’t calling you for interviews, it doesn’t mean you can’t get out there and meet with them! Contact companies you’re interested in working for but don’t necessarily have openings right now and ask them if you can come in for an informational interview. This is a great way to get yourself out there so when they do have something, they may just call you in for a real interview.

3. Reevaluate your goals. Maybe your search is stuck in a rut because you’re not exactly sure what you want. Take a step back and make sure your hunt is focused. Just because you may be desperate for a job, it doesn’t mean you should stray from opportunities that actually interest you.

4. Start making those connections. Ask around among your friends and families for any industry connections they may know. Networking is probably the best way to get your foot in the door. And if you think you don’t know anyone, think again! You never know where a good connection may come from.
