Important Questions to Ask During Interviews

During an interview, you are always asked if you have any questions about the job or company. As a smart job seeker, you should but sometimes you are so nervous about the interview in general that your mind go blank and you think, well the job description is good enough and I have no questions. Well, below is a list of questions you may not have thought to ask:

General Questions

1. What are the most important responsibilities of the job and how much time should be devoted to each area of responsibility?

2. What initial projects would I be tackling?

3. I understand the company has experienced layoffs within the last two years. Can you review the reasons why they were necessary?

4. Is the company’s training strategy linked to the company’s core business objectives?

5. If I were a spectacular success in this position after six months, what would I have accomplished?

6. How much freedom would I have in determining my objectives and deadlines?

7. How long has this position existed in the organization? Has its scope changed recently?

Sales Jobs

1. Can you describe the performance of the sales team?

2. What is the commission structure, and what is my earning potential in [1, 3, 5, or 10] years?

3. What percentage of salespeople attain objectives?

4. What percentage of the current people are above and below their set goals?
