How to Prioritize Your Technology

by Nola Green on May 16, 2011

Keeping up with ever-changing technology in today’s environment is a tall order. You can’t possibly know everything about every new app or the latest “tool” that will enable you to get the edge over everyone else. So stop trying. I mean it; it will only drive you crazy, and you will spend your days signing up for every new website or downloading every new app you think you need.

There are, however, a few good tools that you can use that will either make you more organized, or if used properly, transform your life.

  • BlogDash: For professionals, it helps you search through thousands of bloggers to find the right media coverage, partnerships, writing opportunities and more. They can also create and manage lists to manage blogger relations campaigns. For bloggers, BlogDash helps them take control of their profiles, and specify exactly what kind of opportunities they are looking for.
  • FriendFeed: This platform will keep you up-to-date on all your friends’ and family’s online activity. You can have it draw from your Twitter, Facebook, Flickr, Digg, and even Netflix accounts. Although it is a social network itself, it is kind of helpful, so you can stay on top of what is going on.
  • However, the best tool I came across combined all your most critical social media tools and emails you a periodic summary up to four times per day. Summify.com will collect the posts from you Google reader, Twitter, and Facebook accounts, and email you a summary, every day if you’d like. You can even control how many times they email you and how many posts are in each email. It keeps you from sitting around all day checking all of your social media platforms, and does it for you.

Are there any social media tools that have transformed your life? If so, I’d like to hear about them.
