Introducing the All New Come Recommended Internship Program

by Heather R. Huhman on July 15, 2011

We’re growing like crazy over here, which excites us to no end. When I started Come Recommended, I wasn’t sure how big I wanted it to get. Now, even though I’ve decided we’ll always stay relatively small, I’m convinced that continuing to grow our client base is nothing but a good thing. We’ve just added a new team member (welcome, Berrak!), we’re able to afford some cool services that will benefit clients immensely…and I’ve decided it’s time to completely overhaul our internship program.

For this Fall Session (August 15 – December 30), we will only have one intern. (We might have more than one in the future.) In the past, we’ve had five so they can split up tasks and work together as a team. However, being a virtual company, that model came with lots of challenges. And trust me, I don’t need more challenges!

This also means we will be requiring more of our intern’s time each week. Whereas five interns could each work up to 10 hours per week, the single intern is going to have to commit to 20.

However, in order to request so much of our intern’s time (drum roll please), he or she will be paid. In the past, our interns have been unpaid and working on projects that didn’t financially benefit Come Recommended. Moving forward, the intern(s) will be promoting Come Recommended itself, as well as our pro bono clients.

The intern will still learn the same awesome stuff as in the past and will work with me directly. Frankly, I think this new program is a win all the way around.

Now a bit of bad news…I’m expecting the program to become more competitive. It’s always been open to both college students and recent graduates, but I think more recent graduates will now apply.

Everyone who applied for the old positions will automatically be considered for this new one, so no need to re-apply. Also, I’m extending the deadline by one week…applications are now due next Friday, July 22. (Applying takes all of five minutes, but still.)

Alright, open the floodgates and let the applying begin!
