The Best Cities for New Graduates

by Kate D'Amico on September 1, 2011

Whether you’ve recently graduated or are almost there, one of (many) questions on your mind is probably: “Where am I going to live?” Jobs are hard to find, apartments are expensive — you may need help to choose wisely.

Some cities are better than others for new grads in terms of cost of living, number of entry-level jobs available, and how many people under age 24 live there. Lucky for us soon-to-be grads, CareerRookie and Apartments.com have analyzed all three conditions and come up with the best places to live.

The top 10 best cities for recent graduate, plus average rent for a one bedroom apartment, are:

  1. Hartford-New Haven ($1,047)
  2. Cleveland ($695)
  3. Boston ($1,625)
  4. Denver ($994)
  5. Minneapolis ($941)
  6. San Francisco ($1,560)
  7. Washingon D.C. ($1,679)
  8. Philadelphia ($1,068)
  9. Atlanta ($813)
  10. St. Louis ($826)

Think you might like to live in any of these cities? Start applying — for jobs and for apartments!

What do you think of this list? Where would you live — are any of these cities on your list of potential new locations?

I would also have Dallas, TX in the list as the number of companies in Texas is increasing day by day .. plus the cost of living is not expensive compared to other cities !!
