You have an interview. You want the job. Now what do you do?
Rasmussen College, a private career college, put together an infographic to help guide job seekers (like you!) go from interview to offer, step by step. They divided the infographic into three sections: research, no surprises, and post-interview. Each section has several tips to help you along the way. Here are three takeaways from the infographic:
1. Research the company on its website and social media
Researching the company and interviewers is essential before an interview — use the company’s website, LinkedIn, Twitter and Facebook profiles to find out the current state of the company, recent accomplishments, news, etc.
2. Prepare for the interview by dressing nicely, creating talking points, and mapping out the location.
Interview preparation doesn’t just mean going over your resume. Make sure you do a test drive to your interview site so you don’t risk getting lost the day-of, plus create talking points for the interview — things you absolutely must say about yourself to show your accomplishments. As always, dress nice and neat and professional for the interview.
3. Follow up post-interview with a thank you at the office, emails to your interviews, and a handwritten note.
Thank your interviewers and anyone else you met at the company while leaving the interview. Then, email thank-yous to your interviewers and follow-up with a handwritten note.
Job seekers, what do you think of these tips? Do you have any additional tips to secure a job?
