Everyone’s heard tales of those few amazing companies to work for—you know, the ones where you can bring your dog to work, or enjoy the company pool (like at Google’s headquarters).
CareerBliss recently revealed its list of the 50 Happiest Companies for 2012. The site received thousands of nominees for the award, and companies were chosen based on employee reviews and ratings. The companies listed were found to be ranked the highest when it comes to corporate culture, the type of work the company does, how the company works, and the other people that work there.
CareerBliss’ list includes companies from a variety of different industries, including NASA, Nokia, Walt Disney, Intel, and Apple. Here’s the top ten that made the cut:
- Hilton Worldwide
- Fluor
- Johnson & Johnson
- Nordstrom
- BASF
- Centex
- United States Air Force
- Fidelity Investments
- Ericsson
- Chevron
In a recent About.com blog post on the subject, Matt Miller, CTO and co-founder of CareerBliss, said he enjoys seeing how the list changes from year to year.
“It was interesting for us to see the change in companies from our 2010 data,” he said. “For example, Google, which ranked number one in 2010, did not make our top fifty this year. Google has faced a competitive environment for retaining talent this year and with their competitors rapidly expanding the race for employees can impact overall happiness.” Read more in the post here.
It seems that as the workforce becomes more competitive, companies are hard-pressed to focus on having happy employees.
Does the company you work for deserve to be on this list? What do you think makes for a “happy company”? Leave a comment with your thoughts.
