The talent shortage problem continues to be an issue today. According to a ManpowerGroup survey, 49 percent of organizations have trouble filling critical positions. In order to find and retain top talent in the industry, recruiters and HR personnel really need to understand what it is employees are looking for. To help us figure out what exactly employees want, Achievers compiled an infographic with their study findings.
One key finding shows that 57 percent of job seekers believe salary is the most important aspect when searching for a job. Thus, it goes without saying, if you want top quality employees, be willing to provide them with competitive compensation. Money isn’t the only motivator though. Applicants also look for interesting work and being valued and rewarded. Other key factors employees seek include:
Recognition: Recognition is something highly sought after by employees. In fact, employees who believe they are being inadequately recognized at work are three times more likely to quit. To ensure employees are receiving a proper amount of recognition, seek to recognize their work at least once every 7 days.
Feedback: Sixty-one percent of employees desire direct and immediate feedback regarding their work. Unfortunately, only 24 percent actually receive immediate feedback. Worse yet, 1 in 10 employees claim to never receive feedback at all.
Inspiration: Disengaged employees cost companies $300 billion in unproductivity alone. In order to excel in a position, the employee needs to be engaged in the work. 35 percent of employees say that their organization does not inspire them to do their best work every day.
