Job seekers beware: social media profiles can help you land or lose a job, according to a new infographic.

Today, 92 percent of companies use LinkedIn, Twitter, and Facebook to search for job candidates. This infographic shows it’s becoming essential to have well-kept social media profiles for your job search, but you shouldn’t necessarily view these sites as a free-for-all. Ten years ago you might have been able to get away with posting negative content (on say, your MySpace or Xanga–weren’t those the good old days?), but now that the Internet is being used by employers and job seekers alike, it’s important to be ultra-conscious of the fact that anyone could be looking at your public profiles at any time.

According to the infographic, which comes to us from JobVite, hiring managers react more negatively to spelling and grammar errors than photos of alcohol consumption.
