As candidates vie for America’s top job–President of the United States–they’re using every tool in the box to help themselves along the way. That means using social media and other tactics that can position them in the right light to win the job.

While your job search may not be as high-stakes as the presidential candidates’, there’s still a lot you can learn from them. Many of the same tactics presidential candidates use to gain support can be scaled down and applied to a candidate’s individual job search. Networking, branding, online video, social media–these are all everyday strategies the presidential candidates use when campaigning, and job seekers shouldn’t ignore these tactics as a way to position themselves favorably in the job market. The same tactics used by our presidential candidates can also be used by everyday job seekers to stand out to recruiters and employers.
