We’ve been taught for generations to believe happiness can only be obtained through success. The harder we worked, the more success we would reach, and the happier we would become. Sadly, this no longer seems to be the case for many people.

Many are beginning to see the benefits of a strong foundation of happiness on individuals’ interests in learning and motivation — culminating in a great chance of achieving success. And success isn’t the only benefit tied into increased levels of happiness. Happier workers live longer and partake in healthier lifestyles. While employers with happier employees are likely to see increased profits and lower turnover due to engaged and motivated workers.

Finding happiness is sometimes easier said than done, especially in the current economy. With a high unemployment rate, many employees fear the loss of their job while job seekers everywhere are scrambling to find positions. But there are a variety of things you can do to remain positive in spite of trying times — from increasing your exercise routine to spending more time reading.
