2-Month Book Publicity Campaign
Situation
Author and careers blogger Joshua Waldman requested a book publicity campaign that would yield top-tier media placements and a post-release goal of 10 Amazon reviews the first week.
Action
The Come Recommended team created and launched a three-part publicity campaign that spanned July and August 2011.
First, in a media and blogger outreach campaign, the CR team pitched and followed up with digital and traditional publications that focus on careers, HR, and social media. Second, in an effort to reach out to college students, the CR team and the author offered college career centers across the country a special sneak peek Job Searching Using Social Media. Finally, the CR team and the author researched, designed, and released an infographic that was directly related to the book topic. During this campaign, the CR team worked with the author to send out key messages using social media (Facebook and Twitter).
Results
Job Searching Using Social Media For Dummies and its related infographic received several dozen media placements. Notable placements include Mashable, Alltop, and Good Morning America. On Amazon.com, Job Searching Using Social Media For Dummies received 46 customer reviews within the first week of availability. As of September 2011, it is #23 of Amazon’s Best Selling job hunting books and #9 of Amazon’s Best Selling online searching books.
