In the last year, there’s been much debate about the value of content marketing and how it impacts a brand. Some believe content will continue to rule as king in the new year, while others believe it’s just another marketing trend that will soon fade away.

Now, despite all this debate surrounding content marketing, there’s one thing you should know: visual content marketing is going to dominate 2014. Why, you ask? Well, visuals are an essential element of any content marketing strategy. Your content marketing strategy should inspire, educate, inform, and most importantly, provide value for your audience. However, the only way you’re truly going to catch their attention is through engaging them with visual media.

Did you know 90 percent of information transmitted to the brain is visual, and visuals are processed 60,000 times faster in the brain than text? This fact is a great example as to why you need to incorporate visuals into your content marketing strategy. Visual content is key to creating an effective content marketing strategy, especially when 40 percent of people respond to visuals better than just plain text. As you begin to plan your marketing strategies for 2014, here are some reasons why you should emphasize visual content in the upcoming year:

Video is taking content marketing by storm.

If you haven’t began developing video content for your strategy, it’s probably a good idea you get started now. Seventy-three percent of B2B marketers are using video as a tactic for content marketing, which has been a rising trend over the last several years. Video content marketing is crucial to the success of your marketing strategy because 71 percent of consumers feel positive about brands that publish videos. Videos also serve as excellent visuals for increasing engagement because 75 percent of consumers share video content with their friends and coworkers.

Content should be more than just engaging; it needs to be interactive.

We all know by now that the content we produce must be engaging and build relationships with customers. However, something that can easily become overlooked is how we engage our customers. Sure, a catchy headline or picture will help engage the targeted audience; however, it needs to pull them in. Through providing visual media such as videos, infographics, slideshows, and utilizing platforms such as Pinterest, Instagram, and YouTube, you will be able to provide a variety of visual content that promotes interaction between your brand and your customers.

Visual content will create more results for your business.

Aside from engaging people with your content, it should also produce revenue for your business, right? In order to produce content that drives results for your business, you must make it readily available to your audience. Make sure to utilize the right platforms for your company that will help you reach current and potential customers. In addition, when promoting your business on these platforms, you must focus on your content, not only on your product or service. Remember, your goal is to provide your audience with something valuable, so give them a reason to remain loyal to your brand. Through creating visual content, you will be able to spread your message quickly and drive more leads to your website.

As you continue to develop your content marketing strategy for 2014, make sure you make visual content a priority. If you want to continue building brand awareness, creating new relationships, and driving profits for your company, visual content marketing is going to be the king of your strategy in the upcoming year.

How do you plan to incorporate visuals into your content marketing strategy for 2014?
