WayUp‘s female CEO, Liz Wessel, recently announced they raised $18.5 million in the Series B funding round from venture capitalists including General Catalyst, BoxGroup, Lerer-Hippeau Ventures, Index Ventures, SV Angel, and Female Founders Fund to aid in production of a Netflix-like job matching app. WayUp has raised a total of $27.5 million so far.
Since the early days of female empowerment, women have been quietly dominating the professional world. Female leaders have begun to dominate fields previously led by men, HR technology being one of them. There are many amazing women on this list, including Amy Miller at Microsoft, Gretchen Alarcon at Oracle, Liz Wessel at WayUp, Amanda Lannert at Jellyvision, and Come Recommended’s very own Heather R. Huhman.
ISG Insights recently released their 2017 Trends in HR Technology and Service Delivery report. The findings examine the changing industry, focusing on the shift to software-as-a-service (SaaS). ISG Insights projects over 50 percent of enterprises will rely on SaaS solutions by the end of 2020. The change is expected to happen rapidly, but not without its complexities. ISG Insights suspects security may be the highest risk impacting new HR technologies.
Jellyvision, led by Amanda Lennert, recently announced it raised a $20 million funding round from Updata. The Chicago tech company provides employee communications solutions to enterprise clients. Jellyvision started as a video game company in 1989. They have evolved by drawing on a variety of areas, landing themselves as a leader in B2B SaaS.
