Why can’t the job search process be more like shopping?
“As a kid, my father raised me with the idea that a huge part of my life path should be focused on giving as many people as possible opportunities or jobs,” said Bayireddi.
With his father’s words of encouragement, Bayireddi knew his dream was to help people. He started the company out with 30 people who had taken 30 to 40 percent pay cuts because he knew that amount of passion could bring his dreams to life.
On a quest to find the answer to their burning question and give one billion people jobs, Bayireddi and the Phenom People team got to work.
Bettering candidates’ experiences
While there are many available job boards and networks, job seekers and recruiters still have difficulty connecting.
In fact, Jobvite’s 2016 Recruiter Nation Study found an overwhelming 95 percent of recruiters say hiring will be as or more competitive in the coming year. Having the ability to simply apply to open positions isn’t enough anymore.
Instead, Phenom People is connecting professionals around the world searching for their dream jobs with great companies looking to make a phenomenal hire. With the TRM platform, recruiters have the ability to make and track these connections easier than ever before.
Bayireddi shared, “We are excited about what we can do to match job seekers with the right companies and jobs.”
The Phenom Candidate Pro Pipeline allows recruiters to see candidate profiles on every person who has visited the company’s career site, not just those who have applied.
All-inclusive access like this gives recruiters the opportunity to find candidates that fit the requirements, even if they didn’t apply. They can then be proactive and reach out to them about their level of interest.
Doing whatever it takes
Success doesn’t come easy — or free.
Usually, this would be a lesson learned the hard way. However, for the passionate team at Phenom People, it wasn’t a lesson at all, but rather a natural drive to enhance the job market.
“At one point in our journey, almost everyone decided to pause their paycheck until our funding increased. I had one employee in India who was only being paid $30 a month. Fast forward five years later, and the same employee is at $3,000 a month now. Our Chief Evangelist even worked for two years with no paycheck,” Bayireddi explained.
It’s this extreme amount of passion about leadership and their product that gives the Phenom People team the ability to truly connect with their customers and provide them with great results.
Putting shopping to the test
For The Hershey Company, an innovative snacking company headquartered in Pennsylvania with over 21,00 employees, rapid results were necessary for the company’s continued success in developing delicious snacks.
Bayireddi and his team knew driving more people directly to open relevant positions at Hershey would give them a more personalized experience — just like shopping.
With a new and improved career site and the ability to identify who’s visiting the site, Hershey’s total number of captured job seekers increased significantly. In fact, job seekers who completed the job application process increased by an impressive 68 percent in just three short months.
Here’s where the Phenom People team found their answer to the question, “Why can’t the job search process be more like shopping?”
It can be. Rather, it should be more like shopping.
With LinkedIn’s “Work With Us Ads” feature, if a LinkedIn user views the profile of a Hershey employee – a relevant Hershey job would be displayed with their photo and a “Work with Us” advertisement. Combining LinkedIn’s new feature and Phenom People’s talent analytics feature, Hershey saw an 80 percent increase in job seeker traffic and the number of completed job applications increased by 550 percent.
A solution for every company
Phenom People recognizes shopping isn’t a one-size-fits-all activity, so the job search shouldn’t be either. With that in mind, they’ve created multiple phenoms — one to solve every company’s hiring challenges.
This platform brings the right people the right jobs at the right time.
With the consumer-life experience at top of mind, Phenom Hub helps organizations create a convenient, flexible, and informative process every step of the way. Whether candidates are searching from Google, LinkedIn, Facebook or job boards, job postings are equally accessible from any of these locations on any device.
Phenom Pro gives talent acquisition teams unprecedented access to candidates through a strong candidate pipeline, talent analytics, campaign management, and CMS.
With Phenom Pro, active applications aren’t necessary for recruiters to fully understand candidates. Even without applying, you can see how often someone has been on your career site, their experience, location, and social media sites.
With hundreds of data points, recruiters build the most powerful candidate pipeline they’ve ever had.
Phenom Exchange simplifies the application experience for candidates, making it fun and easy for them to apply. With mobile apply, ATS and ATI integration, and social and cloud apply, your candidates can apply anytime, anywhere, from any device.
Influenced by ecommerce best practices, Phenom Exchange Mobile Apply builds ecommerce best practices into their application. This creates a user experience that rivals the online shopping experience.
With job distribution, content marketing, and talent assessment, Phenom Market builds a presence across the web that leads candidates down the right path to finding their dream job. It also gives recruiters the ability to choose and add on the services they need to make the most of their talent acquisition efforts.
- Personalizes the candidate experience
- Gives candidates the option to apply on any device
- Allows recruiters to see candidate profiles before they apply
- Gives recruiters direct access to candidates before they apply
- Helps companies build a strong brand
- Integrates with ATS and ATI
Improvements we’d like to see:
- Allow candidates to see when recruiters look at their application
- Promote “community” more prominently to ensure answers to user questions are up-to-date and readily available
