Why can’t the job search process be more like shopping?

This was the question Mahe Bayireddi, CEO and co-founder of Phenom People, a talent relationship marketing platform (TRM), and the company’s co-founders couldn’t get off their minds.

“As a kid, my father raised me with the idea that a huge part of my life path should be focused on giving as many people as possible opportunities or jobs,” said Bayireddi.

Fast forward five years later, and the same employee is at $3,000 a month now. Our Chief Evangelist even worked for two years with no paycheck,” Bayireddi explained.

Bayireddi and his team knew driving more people directly to open relevant positions at Hershey would give them a more personalized experience — just like shopping.

With a new and improved career site and the ability to identify who’s visiting the site, Hershey’s total number of captured job seekers increased significantly. In fact, job seekers who completed the job application process increased by an impressive 68 percent in just three short months.

Here’s where the Phenom People team found their answer to the question, “Why can’t the job search process be more like shopping?”

With LinkedIn’s “Work With Us Ads” feature, if a LinkedIn user views the profile of a Hershey employee – a relevant Hershey job would be displayed with their photo and a “Work with Us” advertisement. Combining LinkedIn’s new feature and Phenom People’s talent analytics feature, Hershey saw an 80 percent increase in job seeker traffic and the number of completed job applications increased by 550 percent.
